The Tyranny of Endless Feeds

Image by Pixabay  2000 words. "I am sorry". These are the words uttered by the CEO of the biggest social network on our planet during the congressional hearing. Mark Zuckerberg was apologizing for not being 'careful enough' with the private data of Facebook's users which led to Cambridge Analytica scanda l. Chris Huges, the co-founder of Facebook, thinks that Facebook has become too powerful and should be dismantled. Chris Wetherell r egrets building the retweet button and compares it with 'handing over a loaded gun to a 4 year old' while Ethan Zuckerman feels guilty for coding the first pop-up ad on the internet. Some of the famous designers in the silicon valley like Nir Eyal who preach how to build habit forming websites, go great lengths to avoid getting addicted to their own designs as if drug dealers are abstaining themselves from 'doing their own stuff'. 'Rape Culture' in India

Image
2800 Words. 5th Dec 2019. The rape survivor from the Unnao case was set ablaze on her way to court hearing of her own rape case trial. After reading this news, I was furious and slightly disheartened. What triggered my furor the most was, how men with power try to suppress the voices of the victims by bending the law at their own will. Like most of us, I took it to the social media, vented out my frustration and sympathy for the victim. Days before this news, there was another unfateful incident which made it to the international news. A 26 year old vet, Priyanka Reddy 'Disha' was gang-raped and burnt to death in Hyderabad which sparked fresh outrage and countrywide protests. Last year, there was the Kathua case (An 8 year old Asifa was raped for days and later murdered as a pre-planned conspiracy against the Bakarwal community), and few years ago, the infamous Nirbhaya case happened (the case which shook our nation's conscience). Unfortunately, this list is endless. ...

About Memes!

Word limit: 1700. One lazy evening I was glued down to my sofa, owing to ennui induced out of nowhere, scrolling endlessly through my news feed, switching back and forth through various 'social' media apps and saw this then I realized that I have been taking memes absolutely for granted till now and took up this unusual yet enjoyable task to write something about them. I bet that you would not need an introduction to this guy, or this great lady,( Yeah, she is great because she voiced her opinion fearlessly ) And I bet, you must have come across this dude  numerous times already.   Strange thing, we are absolutely clueless about who these people really are and yet we are quite familiar with them at the same time. Thanks to what some people call ‘ maymay'’ and others ‘ meem ’, even though this phonetic schism has left us divided, we all enjoy the effect produced by them quite unequivocally. Memes, who doesn't enjoy them? Scrolling down through ...

“A mind all logic is like knife all blade, it makes the hand bleed that uses it.”

Image
Word limit: 1000 words. Source:https://poweofmind.blogspot.com After reading this quote couple of times repeatedly, a moment of epiphany struck me when I could finally grasp its obfuscated essence. Well, I had to do an online research about technicalities of mind and its underlying components before I could scribble anything down as an 'essay' and present it for critical scrutiny. Our mind is the thing which is taken for granted from almost every human being ever existed. Even I had never thought about it till now, that our mind is, supposedly, assortment of cognitive faculties such as perception, consciousness, memory, imagination, judgment and language ( probably the best invention of human mind) and 'logic' is nothing but 'reasoning conducted or assessed according to strict principles of validity '. These definitions made the task of essay-writing more challenging than I had expected.  It is very peculiar of the author of this quote to be ind...
