'Rape Culture' in India

Image
2800 Words. 5th Dec 2019. The rape survivor from the Unnao case was set ablaze on her way to court hearing of her own rape case trial. After reading this news, I was furious and slightly disheartened. What triggered my furor the most was, how men with power try to suppress the voices of the victims by bending the law at their own will. Like most of us, I took it to the social media, vented out my frustration and sympathy for the victim. Days before this news, there was another unfateful incident which made it to the international news. A 26 year old vet, Priyanka Reddy 'Disha' was gang-raped and burnt to death in Hyderabad which sparked fresh outrage and countrywide protests. Last year, there was the Kathua case (An 8 year old Asifa was raped for days and later murdered as a pre-planned conspiracy against the Bakarwal community), and few years ago, the infamous Nirbhaya case happened (the case which shook our nation's conscience). Unfortunately, this list is endless. ...

Companions

It's been so long Since I cried last time.. Miss my tears, My companions of dark times.. Miss my choked voice, And running nose, Swollen eyes, And letting it all go, The cup of my rage, Is now about to overflow, Enough is enough now, Carrying around the charade, Like A jolly Joe, I just Don't know, What my mind really fears, Why is it so desperate, To lock away it's tears? Guess, it realised, Hardly anyone cares, Most of them celebrate, Pillaging of the heartland, Of my happiness, All I am left with, My broken spears, I can't fight anymore, With blunt arrow heads, It's okay to let it all flow, And find momentary solace... Someone, Please break my heart, Push me way beyond the precipice, Reunite me, With my companions of dark times, It's been a while, Since I have cried last time.. :) - The.Crazy.Philosopher Dedicated to the hard times in our lives which improve us as a human being.

Moonlight

We were sitting up there, On one of the thousands of steps, Far from the chaos, of the cityscapes, As the sky turned dusk blue, And the moon was rising, We found ourselves lost, In silence of the evening.. 'The wall' stared at us, with the poise of a monk, Like it was waiting for us, For centuries long, Its grandiosity, Was simply awe inspiring, And We could feel in the breeze, Its benevolent blessings... We were talking it all out, Like some long lost friends, Shared with each other, Our dreams and dreads, Suddenly a firefly, Revealed itself to us, But I didn't mind its Eavesdropping on us.. I felt an unsual calm, In my tumultuous mind, It stored that moment, To play endlessly on rewind, It knows it clear, That we might never meet again, But we had a piece of each other  Which we were talking back as a souvenir! - The.Lazy.Philosopher Dedicated to the great wall of China .

A Lyrical Correspondence

Tell me, in which language, should I express my love, for it to sound convincing enough, and not recieve just a nod in response, how long is one supposed to wait, should I pray, night & day, in which language, tell me, Listen, I guess, few faults our stars have got And suffers your heart, I can see Owing to my apathy Helpless I am Truly, Clueless I am But sympathize, I can only For my heart, too, suffers already till now, tears & scars as souvenirs it's got.. Poor thing.. ********** zamana lag jayega aapko ye samajhne me ki ijazat ho aapki toh zamane guzaar sakte hai hum aapki nigahon me Kambakht zamane ne Kiya hai, Iss kadar zulm, Ki ab Nigaho par bhi Bharosa na Raha... Warna Iss dil-e-naachij ki Kya majaal, Jo aapki inayat Ko Najarandaz Karen.. Chalo, de bhi di agar Ijaazat Maine, To kya ye waada Nibha paoge? Ya fir, Zamane ke saath milkar, Ikk aur takalluf de jaoge? **********

Sans Amour

Her laugh was gleeful, Spirit alacritous, And her dreams were grander than The most garish sun.. She was the soul of her family, crown jewel for her father, Received from the Lord in alms, In her tiny little world, She was no lesser than, A princess of the seven realms. Until.. Those lustful fiends, Set their eyes upon her, Slaves, Of their demonic bodily thirst, Grabbed her, As she was shrieking,  To be free from their clutches, Pleading, begging, But they were too crazed, By their odious desire, Her loin was intruded, And body scarred, Her sanctity polluted, Her eyes went dry In those unfateful moments, She died a million deaths, Her world darkened forever, Her dreams were expunged, Her smile was lost, For never to be found.. The Satan was so ashamed, For the moral destitution Of those fiends, and their heinous deed, He prepared the Gallows, To hang himself to death, In exchange of her, Lost innocence,...

About Memes!

Word limit: 1700. One lazy evening I was glued down to my sofa, owing to ennui induced out of nowhere, scrolling endlessly through my news feed, switching back and forth through various 'social' media apps and saw this then I realized that I have been taking memes absolutely for granted till now and took up this unusual yet enjoyable task to write something about them. I bet that you would not need an introduction to this guy, or this great lady,( Yeah, she is great because she voiced her opinion fearlessly ) And I bet, you must have come across this dude  numerous times already.   Strange thing, we are absolutely clueless about who these people really are and yet we are quite familiar with them at the same time. Thanks to what some people call ‘ maymay'’ and others ‘ meem ’, even though this phonetic schism has left us divided, we all enjoy the effect produced by them quite unequivocally. Memes, who doesn't enjoy them? Scrolling down through ...

“A mind all logic is like knife all blade, it makes the hand bleed that uses it.”

Word limit: 1000 words. Source:https://poweofmind.blogspot.com After reading this quote couple of times repeatedly, a moment of epiphany struck me when I could finally grasp its obfuscated essence. Well, I had to do an online research about technicalities of mind and its underlying components before I could scribble anything down as an 'essay' and present it for critical scrutiny. Our mind is the thing which is taken for granted from almost every human being ever existed. Even I had never thought about it till now, that our mind is, supposedly, assortment of cognitive faculties such as perception, consciousness, memory, imagination, judgment and language ( probably the best invention of human mind) and 'logic' is nothing but 'reasoning conducted or assessed according to strict principles of validity '. These definitions made the task of essay-writing more challenging than I had expected.  It is very peculiar of the author of this quote to be ind...
